These are states where we already have college interns lined up for this summer! We’re getting contacts from every direction and are amazed at how the word is spreading about the Antioch Summer Intern Program. We’ve only made one recruiting trip so far this year, but the word is out there in a crazy way!!

2010 APOLOGETICS CONFERENCE
December 31st, 2009Join us for the 2nd Annual Kilns Apologetics Conference coming up on February 19 & 20, 2010.
The conference will be held at Westside Church in Bend, OR and we have the top New Testament scholars in the country, Dr. Craig Blomber and Dr. Daniel Wallace, as our main speakers. Craig Hazen will be joining us again for several of the breakout sessions. The topic will be the reliability of the New Testament and will cover such matters as the historical reliability of the Bible, the accuracy of the manuscript copies, archaeology, science, cults and more.
SPEAKER BIOS:
Dr. Craig Blomberg
Blomberg is Distinguished Professor of New Testament at Denver Seminary in Littleton, Colorado. He holds the B.A. from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, the M.A. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois, and the Ph.D. from the university of Aberdeen, Scotland. He is also the author of twelve books and has co-authored or co-edited seven more, along with dozens of journal articles and chapters in multi-author works.
Daniel B. Wallace
Wallace is a professor of New Testament Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary and Executive Director of the Center for the Study of New Testament Manuscripts. He holds a Ph.D from the University of Aberdeen, and an M.A. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He has published dozens of articles in academic theological journals, and has authored, edited, or contributed to than twenty.
Dr. Craig Hazen
Hazen is a Professor of Comparative Religion and Christian Apologetics at Biola University; he is also the founder and director of the M.A. program of Christian Apologetics at Biola. He holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Religious Studies, a B.A. in Biological Sciences. He has written scores of journal articles and has lectured across America and Europe on the issues of the Resurrection and apologetics.

RANSOM WEAR BIO: Many people are familiar with the country of Nepal because it is home to some of the tallest mountains in the world, including Mount Everest. But Nepal is also home to thousands of young women who have been kidnapped and sold into sexual slavery in the country of India. Without intervention, these women will remain in brutal captivity with little hope of ever returning home alive.
When you purchase Randsom Wear, you play a vital role in the rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of these women. Randsom Wear generously contributes funds that will: help fund the physical act of rescue, provide counseling to the rescued women, and offer an excellent working wage job as an alternative to returning to the hopeless sex trade. Thousands of young girls live in poverty and despair. When someone comes along to offer them a better life, most cannot resist the chance to try. What they don’t know is that the offer is often “too good to be true”. Instead of a better life as a wife or employee, they are sold to the brothels in India where they work long hours and receive little pay. Dreams are broken and reality brings despair. There is hope for these women! Men and women in Nepal are working to stop this human trafficking and rescue these girls. There are three main approaches used: Preventative Education: Providing much needed classes to help young girls recognize the strategies of those who seek to use them. Border Patrols: Staff workers monitor boarder crossing to “catch” the offenders in the process of taking girls out of Nepal. Rescue Efforts: By partnering with other organizations based in India, girls are either ransomed or rescued from the brothels and returned to Nepal.
Once these women return to Nepal, they are able to stay in our centers where they receive food, a bed, counseling and job training. In the Nepal culture, these ladies would be shunned by their families and by society. Confidentiality protects them from further pain as they receive much needed help. Many of these girls learn to knit, sew and to make crafts. Ransom Wear will purchase their items to sell in the United States with much of the proceeds going back to assist with the overall work in rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration.
Ransom Wear is a non-profit, humanitarian effort that seeks to partner with other organizations in third world nations to stop human trafficking. In addition, we encourage women to take an active role in their rehabilitation and reintegration. Most of these women work from their homes. Their hand-made items are high quality both in materials and workmanship.

A Renewed Beginning…
December 17th, 2009This is a renewed beginning for the Kilns College Blog, and I pray it becomes a vessel of information for readers and students. My name is Shawna Rahn and I will be the new author of the blog. I say renewed because it isn’t a new beginning but instead something revived; I will be posting new blogs weekly about events, classes, professor recommended reading, and conferences.
Kilns College Fundraiser
July 9th, 2009On July 25th 2009 Kilns College will be hosting a fundraiser at Kilns Bookstore.
Proceeds from this event will go to support Kilns College’s current Theology/Missions/Arts 1-year programs and also will assist us in developing and implementing our Associate of Arts degree!
The event will feature live music, a catered dinner, drinks and a silent auction. Doors open at 6:30 pm.

New 1-Year Bible & Arts Degree

In addition to your required core Bible classes you can also take classes in; Art History, Photography, Graphic Arts, Painting, Global Arts and Art Practicum.

February 27th, 2009We are giving the Kilns College Website a Face-Lift!! This is just a sample of what the website will look like in a couple of months. Among other things, the new website will be a lot easier to use and more interactive. Look also for new pictures, video’s, events and much, much more!!
